I’m holding out hope that the ever-increasing proliferation of AI in our daily lives and work will bring more value to words written by humans. Like pots made by hand over those that are mass-produced.
The easier it becomes to generate sloppy content, the more radical it feels to write full sentences in your own voice. Maybe we’ll even get to a point where grammatical errors, like finger prints in clay, will become precious indicators of humanness.
Writing is hard. It’s completely understandable why you’d want to offload that burden to someone else, but this friction and effort is part of what makes the end result meaningful. To take the time to do this difficult thing, when you could do be doing anything else with your finite moments, makes it special. And especially when you’re writing for and about someone else, the fact that you did it for them is what makes it meaningful.
